Discover Nilly's Burgers

Walking into Nilly's Burgers for the first time, I was struck by how effortlessly it feels like a neighborhood staple rather than just another stop on Pioneer Boulevard. Sitting at 17603 Pioneer Blvd, Artesia, CA 90701, United States, this diner-style spot has the kind of lived-in comfort that usually takes decades to earn. The counter buzzes with regulars who know the menu by heart, and that alone says a lot about consistency, which the National Restaurant Association often points to as one of the biggest drivers of repeat visits in local dining.

I’ve eaten here during a quick lunch break and again on a lazy weekend afternoon, and the experience holds steady. The burgers arrive hot, juicy, and unapologetically classic. There’s a clear process behind it: fresh beef patties cooked on a flat-top grill, seasoned simply, then rested just long enough before being tucked into a toasted bun. According to USDA guidelines, proper resting helps retain moisture in cooked beef, and you can taste the difference here with every bite. It’s not flashy food, but it’s honest, and that’s where Nilly’s really shines.

The menu reads like a love letter to American diner traditions. Burgers anchor the lineup, but you’ll also find crispy fries, onion rings, and shakes that lean more milk-forward than sugary, which I appreciate. One afternoon, I watched a family split a combo meal, passing fries back and forth and debating which burger was best. That kind of shared experience is exactly what many food culture researchers describe as communal dining, something that builds emotional connection to a place far beyond the plate.

Reviews from locals often mention the balance between portion size and value, and that tracks with my own experience. Prices stay reasonable, especially considering how filling the meals are. In an era when restaurant inflation has climbed steadily, with data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showing menu prices rising nationwide, Nilly’s Burgers manages to keep things accessible without cutting corners. That’s not easy, and it speaks to smart sourcing and tight kitchen management.

Location matters too. Being right on Pioneer Blvd makes it easy to swing by whether you’re running errands or meeting friends. Parking is straightforward, which sounds minor but can make or break a casual dining decision. I’ve noticed people stopping in after school events or weekend shopping trips, suggesting the diner has become woven into the rhythm of the area. That kind of integration is something hospitality experts often associate with long-term success in independent restaurants.

What really builds trust, though, is transparency. You can see the kitchen at work, hear orders called out, and watch food being assembled in real time. There’s no mystery, and that openness reassures diners about freshness and hygiene. While no restaurant is perfect, and peak hours can mean a short wait, the staff is upfront about timing and keeps things moving. That honesty goes a long way, especially for first-time visitors scanning reviews before deciding where to eat.

I’ve recommended this place to friends looking for a solid burger without pretense, and the feedback has been consistent: they come back. That’s probably the strongest endorsement any restaurant can earn. When people choose to return, it confirms that the food, service, and atmosphere align in a way that feels dependable. In a dining landscape crowded with trends, Nilly’s Burgers stands firm by doing the basics right, plate after plate, day after day.

  • This place is thriving so I am sure they don’t need another review BUT these guys do it right and they always have. Ranch made in house, fries are ALWAYS PERFECTLY CRISP, burgers are perfectly balanced. Seriously I’ve had the fries on my desk for an hour now and they’re still crispy and perfect. I’ve been coming here since they opened and I have found it to be pretty economical, easy to order online and pick up, and the staff is friendly. I hope this place continues to offer such high quality! Also I saw they offer a gluten-free bun now

  • Fantastic!! Highly recommend for a GOOD BURGER. It was so good I did not put any ketchup or anything on it. Simple burger but delicious. The patty is thick and the meat is fresh and quality. The pickles are not too sour: they’re just right. Buns are soft! So so good! We also tried the pastrami fries. They were massive so definitely something to share or eat as a meal. They really pack on the sour cream, onions (thinly sliced which I loved) and pickles on the pastrami fries, and I was in foodie heaven. I had no idea I would love this combo but it was DELICIOUS. Friendly people, enough room at the counter to sit, and looks like they’re extending the dining room to have tables and more places to sit. Awesome! I will definitely be back! Try it out

  • What a great place to get a delicious meal! PARKING - shared parking lot since located in a strip mall. I could see it being sparse during rush meal times, but you should be able to get parking regardless. FOOD - YUM! My boss and I were really craving smash burgers and this was the first spot that came to mind! So we drove the 20 min :) So worth it. The burgers weren't burnt, they were nicely seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The ingredients that come with it are all well thought out too. The bun goes so well with the structure of it all. Just all around great food. Their chili is super good too! A little bummed I couldn't do just cheese fries, but it's okay. SERVICE - Very friendly staff and you can see them making your food at the counter, which is always a great thing for the entertainment and just trust of it all. AMBIANCE - Although a pretty small spot with limited table seating, their have the counter which is great for quick sit-downs. The place is clean and looked after nicely. Highly recommend this spot for a good smash burger!

  • If you longing for some backyard burgers that will absolutely knock your socks off, Nilly’s is where you want to eat today!! They are cooked and seasoned perfectly and beautifully juicy without being soggy. The service is quick, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean. There’s very little seating, so plan to sit at the counter on bar stools or do a takeout order. We sat at the counter, and it was fun to watch them cook the orders. Their homemade pickles are sweet pickles. They taste nice, even though I prefer dill.

  • Wanted to support our great Filipino food community and tried their single burgers with fries. Was not disappointed. Cooked perfectly and garnished with sweet pickles and Martins potato bread. They give you a lot of fries for the price. The Pinay spot feels like an old school dinner too.

  • 4.8/5 **Nilly's Burgers Review** Don't rush a good burger! Nestled in a bustling strip mall on Pioneer Boulevard in Artesia—just a stone's throw from Cerritos, CA—Nilly's Neighborhood Burger Shop is a smash-hit destination for burger lovers craving authenticity and flavor. This unassuming spot, right across from a McDonald's, flips the script on fast food with its smashburger technique, where thin beef patties sizzle on a hot griddle until their edges crisp to perfection. Don't be in a rush; the line can snake out the door during peak hours, but the payoff is immense. And definitely bring your hunger for a delicious double cheeseburger—two juicy patties layered with gooey American cheese, caramelized onions, tangy mustard, and pickles, all tucked into a toasted potato bun that holds up without sogginess. What sets Nilly's apart is the simplicity done right. The double cheeseburger explodes with savory, umami-packed bites, the onions adding a sweet char that elevates every layer. Pair it with their chili cheese fries—golden crinkles smothered in hearty chili and molten cheddar—for a side that steals the show. The vibe is casual and community-driven: a few indoor seats, counter spots, and mostly takeout, with sparkling clean counters and friendly staff hustling amid the aroma of grilling beef. Bottled sodas keep things refreshing, and prices won't break the bank. Sure, the wait might test your patience, and parking in the one-way lot can be tricky, but one bite erases any gripe. Nilly's isn't just a meal; it's a neighborhood ritual worth driving for. If you're near Cerritos Mall or 99 Ranch Market, detour here—your taste buds will thank you.

  • Nilly’s in Artesia is the perfect old-school burger spot. The double cheeseburger was juicy, cheesy, and cooked just right, and the fries were crispy and golden. The service is always friendly, and the classic burger joint makes it a fun place to hang out. Everything tastes fresh and made with care. Love coming here—definitely recommend!
